VIII. WRITE AN ASSESSMENT ABOUT HOW USEFUL THE TVYL PRACTICE IS IN YOUR WAY TO BECOME AN ELT TEACHER

I am concerned that the best teachers teach from the heart not from the book. When I worked with children, I have realized that I was so patient.  The act of teaching is personal. No two teachers are the same. The way I taught was unique for me  and by teaching I bring myself  to the classroom: my personality, my experiences and my ambitions.

On one hand, I tried to be professional in all the things that I did and also, I respect my students all the time. I was positive and it helped me a lot when I become a teacher. Sometimes, there were problems that I have to solve them by myself.

         I did the best of me in the teaching practicum, I learnt from students and viceversa. It was great that I could capture their attention with some activities. Moreover, I leant how to make a lesson plan and the parts that its contained and how to distribute the minutes, and so on.

         On the other hand, I learnt to draw many things that were related with the class, besides I learnt new vocabulary, intonation and pronunciation of some words. I was happy because I told, “We have to follow some rules inside the classroom”.

In my opinion, I gave the students the tools to work and they responded very well to the activities. In fact, I would like to manage the language as teacher Brenda does with us because she always tried that we participated in every class, I wish to be a teacher like her.

Finally, I know that I did a good job, I satisfied with that grade that I got because I could realize some of the things that I need to improve with my future students to be a better teacher. I like to teach children and I want to work with adolescents and adults if it is possible, so I need to be prepare for my future challenges and experiences that I am going to learn.

I consider this an amazing experience to improve my English. In fact, I realized that it is very important to have a great bunch of vocabulary especially when teaching children since they are very curious and they want to know the translation of everything.

I found many areas in which I must work. I have to practice my pronunciation and fluency. There were sometimes in which I did not find what to say or how to answer; so, I have to practice giving instructions. Also, it is important to be ready with the vocabulary delivered in class so that I can answer any question.

In general terms, I learnt the translation of certain names of animals, and a lot of new vocabulary. Besides, I had to work hard to improve the use of grammatical structures since I had problems in that area, too but, I practiced everything to say in the class and I planned all the activities before class.

 Also, I learnt how to manage different situations with my students for example if they were bored or if they were too hyperactive. I had to search for different methods to solve my student’s needs.

I think, I am going to be a good teacher in the future since I worked hard to have a good management of the classroom. Also, I love children; I think they are great learners and with my experience at the kindergarten, I realized that I made a good decision taking this major.

My attitude changes a lot because I tend to be shy but with my students I could be myself.

I did a good job because I tried to do my best to teach my students in a good way. I really like this experience and it was a challenge but I could learn a lot for my experience and for my students at the kindergarten.

I am excited for my future as a teacher. I cannot wait for the challenges that I am going to face.

I guess that this teaching practices help me a lot because I could feel what teaching is, some days ago I just read some books about how to teach and what things a teacher must do and don’t do in the class, but when I was teaching, I could realize that what books say sometimes is not true, it’s better to go and face the reality of what teaching is.

We as future teachers have to be carefully with the way we teach children because children can get hurt easily and get bored really fast, so we have to choose the best material and tools in order to better the teaching of very young learners.

These practices helped me to have a better idea about how students learn, what things they like to learn, what tools I can use to teach them in order to call their attention, what things they have to learn but more important what things they want to learn.

I tried to do my best in all of my teaching practices, and I hope to continue better the way I teach in my next teaching practices because now I become a better student and at the same time a better future teacher.

I have to say that I have learn many things about teaching and It was the best experience. I think that I have improve my English because of the experience I have had. I mean, when I am in classes as an student I do not have to do anything just to pay attention and to participate in class and that’s all, but to be in a classroom as a teacher is very different, because you realize that you have the future of children in your hands.

You have to do the things by your own. There is no one telling you to teach in a specific way and how you have to talk, to pronounce, and how you have to act in front of the students.

Now that I have experienced that, I am sure that I want to be an English teacher and I know that I am not perfect at teaching, but I will work hard to better that because I want to make the difference and I want to help children to become professionals.

I see myself as a good teacher, and I know that because I really want to become an excellent English teacher, and I am going to work very hard to become the kind of person and kind of teacher I want to be. I know that this is not an easy job, because I have seen some teachers working every single day on lesson plans and all those things, but there is nothing that can change my mind. I have made my decision, I know what I want, and I will do it.

THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE  

-Flashcards: I used flashcards in some of my classes in the warm-up.

-CD player: In some classes I used it to play some songs about specific topics related to the class because it is a very dynamic way to present or to start the class.

-Toys: I used them to explain some topics and in that way they learned bye playing.

Now that I have already had an experience with teaching and with children, I feel more prepared to face different problems in any situation, I think that I have improved a lot because it´s not the same to imagine how that world is and something really different is when you decide to get involved in that area that was what we did as teachers in our practices.

 I won’t behave in the same way, I think that I will see the things in a different way since that moment, and even though I will face different hard moments, I know that I will look for different resources or ideas to apply in order to my students learn in every moment.

As a future teacher, I will put into practice all the methodologies that I have learned in this subject. I hope to be a different teacher, because I had teachers that were not able to teach and sometimes that´s why we want to be teachers, to change what they did and try to be better than them.

I visualize myself as a teacher, as someone friendly, flexible, respectful, and I will try not to act as a killer, because it´s not the purpose of teaching, so I will be different so they learn without being afraid me as a teacher.
